Classes are ongoing, and we change up the theme every 4-8 weeks (see below for details).

Drop-ins are welcome, but I do appreciate a head’s up that you’re coming (especially if you’re brand new to belly dance).  I have a quick & easy registration form you can fill out to do just that!

Belly Dance Foundations

Thursdays 6:45 – 8:00 PM January 10 – March 7, 2019

This 8-week series is designed for students new to bellydance or seeking a refresher on foundations (no dance experience is necessary)!

Students can expect to learn basic belly dance technique, movement vocabulary, and traditional musical context. We will focus on developing posture, muscle isolations, basic traveling steps, and more, in a fun and inclusive class environment! In future series, we will build upon these foundations, diving deeper into movement, vocabulary, musicality, props, and be visited by local guest instructors to greater enhance our perspective and scope of education.

Bellydance is a low impact dance form that will help strengthen your core muscles, and train your balance as well as coordination. All are welcomed to come to class and find joy in moving to the music of the world!

Class cards for this series can be used in any future series. Please purchase thoughtfully, as class cards can be exchanged, but not refunded.

Shimmy Into Spring Series

Thursdays 6:45 – 8:00 PM    March 14 – April 18, 2019

In this 6-week series, we will celebrate the return of spring with an energetic and earthy belly dance movement vocabulary! If you’re brand new to belly dance, this is a great chance to experience fun and feel-good movement within the form.

We’ll be learning to properly align our bodies and isolate muscles responsible for creating the characteristic movements of the dance, as well as participate in exercises that help us find our own flavor of personal expression in a relaxed and inclusive class environment!

Please bring finger cymbals if you have them. Beginner cymbal technique will be offered as an option in this series.

What to wear to class:
Soft stretchy clothing that allows you to move freely is recommended (yoga pants, fitted top, a hip sash if it makes you feel lovely! etc.). We dance in bare feet, but please feel free to wear flat dance shoes with a soft suede sole, or jazz shoes if you prefer (no street shoes).
