Amanda’s love of belly dance began immediately after her first class. Never before had she experienced such a welcoming and positive movement environment. The music of faraway lands spoke to her soul and hasn’t stopped since.
She first trained in the improvisational group format of American Tribal Style (ATS) belly dance, before transitioning to regularly study classic American Cabaret/Oriental and Folkloric with her mentor Donna Barrett of Hudson, NY. Presently, she studies with Willow, of Woodstock, NY. She has workshopped with Aszmara, Ranya Renee, Leila Haddad, Petite Jamilla, Heather Stants, The Salimpour School, Puela Lunaris, and more! In 2019, she completed Level 1 of Sahra Saeeda’s Journey Through Egypt course.
While her style is varied and she greatly enjoys the opportunity to stretch the art form, her heart and soul remain deeply inspired by the music and culture of the MENAT regions (Middle East/North Africa/Turkic).
In early 2018 Amanda earned her Group Fitness Instructor Certification from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) with the intention of helping people fall in love with activities that are healthy for body, mind, and soul.
Her classes are a safe and positive space to be oneself, find joy in movement, experience the music of the world, and support one another on this unique and special journey.
Amanda teaches classes in Woodstock, NY, where she is consistently inspired by the beauty of the Catskill Mountain region, and the amazing community of artists and makers in the Hudson Valley.
